Our FEATURE today focuses on a booming economy that has surprised pundits and investors of all stripes. A sure sign (historically) that the economy may be "frothy" is the surge in Merger & Acquisition (M&A) & Leverage Buyout Activity (LBO). The Wall St Journal reports that there's a trillion dollar cash trove ready to invest. What the public doesn't realize is that these intermediaries earn outrageous fees and have little or no risk if the mergers don't work out and fail. The "urge to merge" activity is the largest since 2007 which marked the market top prior to the crash of 2008. One key issue that could become a major determining factor in the US and global economy is the threat of tariffs.
