WHAT IS HEURISTICS & HOW WILL IT DETERMINE OUR FUTURE?
Our FEATURE topic today focuses on one of America's foremost authors who has written a new book delving into the rules that people use to form judgements and make decisions. Lewis introduces us to the work of Daniel Kaheman (who won a Nobel prize in behavioral economics) and Amos Tversky whose near life-long relationship opened up a window into the human mind that is systemically fallible. Unfortunately our politicians, political leaders, economists, bankers et al make decisions based upon cognitive biases that now imperils the global economy. Lewis is well-known for his financial books, Liar's Poker, The Big Short, Boomerang and Moneyball which graphically demonstrate cognitive bias. Other topics include: Bridging 20,000, China's "squeeze play", Obama's real legacy, Windows into 2017, Malaysia Flt#370, Media Monopoly, Refilling the swamp, the January 20th Revolution and the Left Coast bias.
